#socialsolidarity Inauguration of the new multi-court sports facility in Agathonisi
On May 18, we celebrated the inauguration of the new multi-court sports facility on the remote island of Agathonisi. This fully equipped multipurpose facility is the result of the collaboration between the Aegean Team and HOPEgenesis. At the same time, the construction was funded by Qualco Group, Qualco Foundation, and the Municipality of Agathonisi.
The inauguration was attended by the Mayor of Agathonisi, Mr Evangelos Kottoros, the President of Qualco Foundation, Mr Orestis Tsakalotos, the CFO of Qualco Group, Mr Nikos Kontopoulos, the Director of Product Management at Qualco, Mr Theodoros Psilopoulos, the President of HOPEgenesis, Mr Stefanos Chandakas, the President of the Aegean Team, Ms Denise Tsimis, as well as other representatives from the contributor organisations.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor expressed his gratitude to Mr Tsakalotos for his significant contribution and acknowledged the Aegean Team’s commitment to addressing the island’s needs over the past 30 years.
“We strive to provide support for the remote regions of our country and always be there for the needs of the most distant islands. We sincerely thank the Mayor of Agathonisi for his hospitality and for allowing us to contribute to improving the conditions on the island,” stated Mr Tsakalotos.
This event marks a significant moment for the remote island and the six children living there. Agathonisi is the northernmost island of the Dodecanese, covering an area of 13.4 square kilometres with only 203 inhabitants.
