#culture Molyvos International Music Festival - Celebrating 10 years of music and friendship

The Qualco Foundation proudly supported the 10th Molyvos International Music Festival, held in Lesbos from August 9 to 19, 2024.

This year’s topic was friendship, symbolising dedication, trust, and alliance and celebrating the Festival’s 10–year contribution to bringing together audiences across the Aegean Sea and internationally.

Recognised as a major event for classical and popular music, the Festival attracts young and renowned performers from Greece and worldwide. It contributes to the local economy and introduces young people to classical music through year-long educational programmes.

This year’s opening events included concerts at historical landmarks of Lesbos, such as the Castle of Mytilene, the Sigri Castle, the Sanctuary of Messon, and the Roman Aqueduct of Moria, all attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Iasonas Fotilas, and the Mayor of Aivali, Mr. Mesut Ergin.

The lineup also featured the conference “Can the Aristotelian ideal of friendship exist beyond the subject?”, the world premiere of “About love and friendship” by composer Loukas Thanos, and the Molyvos Musical Moments – 10 surprise concerts in several “secret” locations.

Qualco Foundation has long supported the Molyvos International Music Festival as part of its commitment to enhancing access to culture across Greece.
