#culture We are honoured to support the operation of the Elytis House Museum

On November 1, 2024, the Elytis House Museum opened its doors to the public as a dedicated space for Odysseus Elytis, one of the greatest Greek poets, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1979.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the inauguration ceremony and highlighted the importance of this new cultural institution for contemporary Greek culture. The event also welcomed the Former Prime Minister, Mr Antonis Samaras; Minister of Culture, Dr Lina Mendoni; Minister of Tourism, Ms Olga Kefalogianni; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Giorgos Kotsiras.

The Elytis House Museum aspires to be a space for education and reflection, inviting visitors to discover the simplicity and poetic richness that define Elytis’ work. Its collection features numerous resources from his personal archive, including artworks, objects, books, and archival records. Visitors can also tour his actual study room.

In recognition of the significance of preserving and promoting the legacy of the great poet, we proudly support the Elytis House Museum’s operation through a 3-year grant for its educational programming. During the inauguration, Mr Orestis Tsakalotos, President of Qualco Foundation, remarked, “Our Foundation fully embraces the great poet’s ethos and spirit. Supporting the museum was a natural decision.
